Too many weapons: Steers can't tame Lions

The Brownwood Lions showed why they are the No. 1 team in the state with a 37-7 victory over the Graham Steers on Friday.
The Lions used a variety of weapons to light up the scoreboard early, then coasted, allowing only a lone Steers touchdown in the fourth quarter.
The Steers came out fired up, but the flame was quickly doused by the Lions.
Brownwood won the toss and elected to receive. The kick went almost straight up into the air and was downed at the Steers 42-yard line.

Blues dispose of Holliday in four

The Graham Lady Blues came out firing and never let the pressure off in a 25-16, 25-15, 22-25, 30-28 victory over Holliday at the Graham High School gym Saturday.
The Blues had the arms loose early even as Holliday took a 4-1 lead in the first game. Ashley Cox cut the lead to 4-3 with an ace, and E.J. Glidewell gave the Blues a 5-4 lead with a huge kill down the middle.

The Graham High School boys and girls participated in the first cross country meet of the season at Perkins Boy Scout Camp at Burkburnett on Friday.
Elizabeth Watts led the Lady Blues by finishing ninth in the Division I girls meet. She finished in 15:21.6. Kennedy Huckobey was 15th in 15:38.6 while Maci Little finished 16th in 15:39.37. Katie Adair was 25th in 15:56.36 and Elizbeth Trejo finished 33rd in 16:26.01.
Sara Hutson was 37th in 16:32.47, while Jessica Campbell was 39th in 16:41.60.
For the junior varsity, Maricela Camargo was 40th in 16:42.06. Angelica Camacho
