McALLEN, Texas (AP) A South Texas man has been sentenced to nearly 19 years in prison for possessing child pornography that depicted some victims younger than 5 years of age.
Federal prosecutors said Tuesday that 23-year-old Jose Alaniz-Allen of Mission was sentenced for receiving child pornography. He pleaded guilty to the charge in January.
U.S. District Judge Micaela Alvarez told Alaniz-Allen that his crime harms a community while creating a demand for such material.
Authorities focused on Alaniz-Allen after launching an investigation last year into people using the Internet to exchange pornography.
Prosecutors say a search of his home in November yielded various media devices that contained movies showing children engaged in explicit conduct.
