Russell Wayne Groves's career as a film producer sounds wildly glamorous to us in Graham.

Groves has been producing a film called “Intramural” in Austin this summer. We picture him jogging past Matthew Mcconaughey on morning jogs or talking to Sandra Bullock at a party.

But that's not reality, he said. The Graham High School graduate describes himself as a fix-it guy, someone who spends a lot of time putting out fires.

“Intramural” is the story of a fifth-year college senior who assembles a team of misfits who he's played with in intramural sports during his extended education. His dream is to have one last epic run before moving on to marriage, graduation and the real world.

Despite his frantic schedule, Groves hasn't forgotten his family, friends and the people in Graham.
“Tell everybody there that I appreciate the support they've given, and I hope that whether the things I'm doing are successful or not, I will continue to represent Graham in a way that will make them proud.”
