Graham will soon have a new community park in Summer 2014. The park will boast, among other features, pavilions, a splash pad, walking trails and a pond, all accompanied by trees and green scenery.
The city has yet to name this park, and the YOU Lead Class of 2014, will collect name submissions from the public.
YOU Lead is a nine-month interactive learning program that develops future leaders of Young County with the help of the Graham Chamber of Commerce and the Young County AgriLife Extension Service. As a part of the practical application of leadership, each class takes on a service project that in turn gives back to the community.
“City Council tasked the YOU Lead program in August to organize and solicit the community for park name suggestions,” said Amy Pinkston, 2014 YOU Lead class member and Graham Chamber of Commerce membership and communications coordinator. “Once a final park name has been voted upon by the public, the name will then be presented to City Council for approval.”
Pinkston said that since it's the community's park, it should be named by the community.
