Graham has landed a new employer, who plans to open its operations in February at the former Steel Stadiums property south of the city.
Valew Quality Truck Bodies, a family-owned, Southern California company, announced Wednesday afternoon that it will expand its manufacturing operations to Graham in order to serve its Central and Eastern U.S. clients. The company produces a wide variety of truck bodies for heavy industries, including water truck bodies, dump truck bodies, vacuum and septic pumpers and mechanics truck bodies.
The company says its five-year plan includes hiring 100 new employees, growing to 200. Jobs include general laborers, welders, machine operators and office personnel.
Valew's management team credited the community's economic development department and NCTC's training programs and offers to host job fairs as keys to landing their company.
The Graham Leader will provide full coverage of the announcement, including local reaction, in its weekend edition.
