According to the Open Meetings Act, Section 551, Monday’s Commissioners Court meeting needed to have been posted on the main kiosk of the County Courthouse 72 hours prior to the meeting, or 9:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1.
The responsibility to post the notification of the Monday meeting fell to County Clerk Debra Taylor’s office. Taylor explained that there was a mix up between her office and the County Judge’s office.
“Due to an unexpected error, in the chaos of our day-to-day activities, the agenda was accidentally picked up by a staffer from another office,” Taylor said. “That gave my clerk the impression that the notice had been posted. Steps have been taken so that this does not happen in the future.”
