Mikey Freeze wants to push the Steers’ defense to the next level.

The senior safety has extra motivation since the 2014 football season will be his last high school athletic season.

When the fall semester ends, Freeze will pack his bags and head to Fort Worth. He is on track to graduate in December, enroll at Texas Christian University for the spring semester and participate in spring football.

The coaches, campus and athletic facilities reeled in Freeze, who committed in May.

“I fell in love with it,” he said. “(I) knew  I wanted to be a Horned Frog.”

But before Freeze goes west, he and his Graham teammates have some unfinished business to address.

“We’re gonna do everything we can to win a state championship. We’re tired of being in the state semi-finals, to be honest,” Freeze said. “We wanna win it.”

Last season, the Steers’ defense buried opponents, allowing 11 points per game and commanding five shut outs. But Argyle found a way to get 38 points, ending the season a game too soon.
