Saturday, July 18
Fort Richardson
Historian Ron Paynter of the Texas 13th Cavalry will hold an afternoon lecture from 1-3 p.m. Saturday in the Interpretive Center of Fort Richardson. Paynter has been a Civil War and Republic of Texas re-enactor for over 20 years. Cowboy Poet Doc Wood will perform from 7-8:30 p.m. that evening on the steps of the Fort Richardson Hospital. P.K. Splash Day
The Possum Kingdom Splash Day Pageant will begin with registration at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the P.K. Chamber of Commerce building. Girls division is for newborns to 21 years and boys division is newborn to five years. Registration fee is $35. All proceeds help prevent and support breast cancer. Flea and Tick Dip
Humane Society of Young County will offer a flea and tick dip from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday and every Saturday thereafter at the shelter. Cost is $5 for spayed or neutered animals and $10 for non-spayed or non-neutered animals. For information, call (940) 549-1692.
Art Exhibit
An exhibit featuring artwork by Marie Neudorf will be displayed until Friday, July 31, at Midwestern State University Museum and Art Gallery located at 2 Eureka Circle in Wichita Falls. Museum hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, and 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Saturday.
Labra-cadabra
The Humane Society of Young County will have a Labra-cadabra special for Labrador lovers through Friday, July 31. Chocolate, black and yellow labs are available for adoption. Cross Cut Reunion
The Annual Cross Cut Reunion will be held Sunday at Cross Plains Community Center. All alumni, Cross Cut residents, friends and family are invited to enjoy a covered dish luncheon served at noon followed by a silent auction and Cross Cut Cemetery Association annual business meeting. Emmaus Gathering
Young County Emmaus will have a mini-community gathering beginning with a pot-luck supper at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Faith Center located on the Highway 380 Bypass. Praise and worship will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Democratic Women
Texas Democratic Women of Young County will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at Bobcat Cafe in Newcastle. Speaker will be Gordon Grubbs, superintendent of Newcastle I.S.D. For dinner reservations, call (940) 549-4558.
Vacation Bible School
Oasis of Grace Church will host a vacation Bible school entitled “God Thinks I’m Special,” from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday-Friday at the church located on Second and Cherry St. Events include music, drama, games, crafts, snacks, a 50-foot-long inflatable obstacle course and more. Loving Cemetery
The Loving Cemetery Association will hold their annual meeting at 7  p.m. Tuesday at  the Loving Community Center. Business for the previous year will be discussed as well as the election of officers.  The Loving Woman’s Club will provide desserts and ice cream. Clogging Classes
