OPOMAC Board
The Old Post Office Museum and Art Center will have a board meeting at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the center. A meeting on acquisition and accessions will follow the board meeting.
Canvas by Canvas
A unique art exhibit featuring paintings created by six women artists, Canvas by Canvas, will be displayed through the end of July from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday at the Old Post Office Museum and Art Center. All the artists work on one painting at a time, focusing on everything Texan: Longhorns, wildflowers, Native Americans, rusty pickups and other Lone Star icons.
Bible Study
Saint Michael’s Estates will host a Bible study at 10 a.m. each Wednesday in its community room. The study is open to the community. Bring a Bible and join in. For information, call (940) 521-0494.
Percussion Performance
Percussionist Mark Shelton will perform his “high energy percussion party” in conjunction with the summer reading program at 2 p.m. Wednesday at North Central Texas College Graham campus. Audiences will enjoy the sounds of more than a dozen instruments in a performance that blends influences from classical, jazz, folk and pop. For information, call (940) 549-0600.

Diabetes Support

Guest Historian
History professor and author T. Lindsay Baker will sign books and speak at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Old Post Office Museum and Art Center. Baker will discuss the series of robberies in the Stockyards National Bank during the Depression era. He has written many books on Texas subjects and taught in universities for more than 25 years. Labra-cadabra
The Humane Society of Young County will have a Labra-cadabra special for Labrador lovers through Friday, July 31. Chocolate, black and yellow labs are available for adoption. Adoptees receive $50 off by adopting two large breed dogs. For information, call Kim Baxter at (940) 549-1692.
Vacation Bible School
Oasis of Grace Church will host a vacation Bible school entitled “God Thinks I’m Special,” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday through Friday at the church located on Second and Cherry streets. Angel Food Ministry orders will be available for pick-up at time designated on receipts Saturday at the east door of the Senior Citizens Center located at 825 Fairview Street.
Flea and Tick Dip
The Humane Society of Young County will offer a flea and tick dip from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday and every Saturday thereafter at the shelter. Cost is $5 for spayed or neutered animals and $10 for non-spayed or non-neutered animals. For information, call (940) 549-1692.
Quartet Performance
The Marksmen will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday at Faith Baptist Church (note change in church) located at 1700 Hwy. 380 Bypass. The Marksmen have become one of the top Bluegrass Gospel Groups in the nation.
Tyler Fisher Fund-raiser
The public is invited to the Tyler Fisher Spaghetti Lunch fund-raiser from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, July 26, at the Young County Arena Meeting Center. Cost is by donations only — any checks can be made to Tyler Fisher. There will also be a silent auction. Graham Regional Theatre will present Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “The Sound of Music,” beginning Friday, July 31, and continuing through Sunday, Aug. 9. It will run Friday and Saturday evenings at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. The shows this year will be at the National Theatre in Breckenridge. Scrap Book Fund-raiser
Scrap Book N’ Such will host a benefit crop party to help raise funds for Turning Point from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at the American Legion Building. Tickets cost $40 each. The event includes lunch, snacks and drinks, door prizes for everyone and a scrapbook class. A mini-store will be set up for scrap book supply purchases. Ticket proceeds will benefit Turning Point.
