Wal-Mart to host Read for the Record
 (Posted 10/6/2009 02:20 pm)
Wal-Mart believes it can make the greatest impact on the communities it serves globally by supporting causes that are important to its customers – right in their own neighborhoods.
To that end, Wal-Mart partnered with Jumpstart’s Read for the Record, a national campaign designed to break the record for the largest shared reading experience in its history.  Through this program Jumpstart highlights the importance of early literacy. Join us and one million children across the United States at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Vision Center at Wal-Mart.
Together, we’ll read “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” – the 2009 limited edition campaign book  – in a celebration of reading, community service and fun.
Participating is easy. Beau Rees, superintendent of Graham Independent School District, will read the book to all that attend. If you prefer to host an event of your own, you can be counted and pledged to read today at readfortherecord.org.
Wal-Mart is the official retail partner of Jumpstart’s Read for the Record and will sell the limited-edition campaign book in Wal-Mart stores.
