The Steers and Lady Blues are met their toughest competition of the year this past weekend as they  faced teams with state champions and record holders in the Region 1-3A Track Meet in Lubbock on April 25th and 26th.

It’s been a solid year for GHS track in 2014, as their performance at regionals reflected.

Graham  took first in both the discus and the shot put. Mike Freeze, slung his discus 177’ 11”, over ten feet farther than the next closest competitor to beat out his teammate, Conner Smith, who was able to secure a third place finish.

In the shot put, Chanse Moss hurled his shot 51’ 6.5”, a throw that put him in the top spot as the regional champion. Juan Arrendondo had an impressive outing as well, recording a distance of 50’ 6.5”, far enough to take the bronze.

Among the other field events, Kristin Adair stood out in the pole vault. Flying to a height of 11 feet, one of her best heights of the year, Adair logged a third place finish.

Bradley Little capped off a great year for the Steers in the pole vault finishing in the sixth spot. Derek Sides also had a great performance in the triple jump, finishing in the fourth spot.
