Stiles celebrate 65th anniversary

James and Oneida Stiles celebrated their 65th wedding on Aug. 18 by attending a showing of The Sound of Music in Bass Hall, Fort Worth, in the company of their dear friends, Kathy and Tom Pierce. The Stiles were married Sept. 2, 1951 at First Baptist Church, Wichita Falls. Oneida, nee Milford, of Wichita Falls, is a graduate of Old High in that city, and attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Okla., and North Texas University at Denton. James, from Little Rock, Ark., is a graduate of Tucumcari High School in Tucumcari, N.M., and attended OBU and Southwestern Baptist Seminary, earning bachelor’s degrees in the arts and divinity. He also served in the Air Force. James has been a pastor at churches in Texas and Oklahoma for 65 years. The couple served for 10 years as missionaries in Columbia, South America. The couple have lived in Young County for 21 years, and prior to that, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The are members of First Baptist Church, Graham, and for many years were active members of the Kiwanis Club. They also enjoy amateur radio and flying. The Stiles have two children, Becky Sue Callison and her husband, Ed Callison, and John Stiles and his wife, Letha Stiles; a granddaughter, Reina Johnson and her husband, Todd Johnson; and two great-grandchildren, Brinly Johnson and Landry Johnson.
