At the meeting, the commissioners discussed budget matters for the upcoming fiscal year, hearing a presentation from Eric Steadham, IT administrator.
Steadham has submitted a budget request of $245,510 up from last year’s budget of $151,938.
Within that budget is a request for the purchase of wireless gateways for six sheriff’s department vehicles at an estimated cost of $5,819.
Steadham said due to the rural area, the department is experiencing connectivity issues using Verizon.
Chief Deputy B.J. Cook said the department could use a better option.
Precinct 4 Commissioner Jimmy Wiley suggested Steadham use part of his current budget to purchase the equipment for one vehicle as a test run.
