Talor Wheat will advance to the state meet after running a 1:59.21 to win the 800m run at the Region I 3A track meet in Lubbock over the weekend.
Wheat had been shooting for a sub-two-minute time and found it in one of the biggest races the senior has run in his career.
Wheat represents a long line of Graham athletes to advance to the state meet.
The second-place time in the race was a 1:59.62 that was ran by Pierre Valencia of Dalhart.
Graham's Conner Smith finished fifth in the discus with a throw of 137-11.
Cara Cowser finished third in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.08.
Cowser came in sixth in the 300m hurdles with a time of 47.69.
The Steers track team finished 12th overall scoring 22 points.
The Lady Blues scored eight points to finish 20th.
Wheat will compete at the UIL Track and Field State Meet on Friday, May 10, and Saturday, May 11.
