Last Wednesday was a good day for Graham track, for both the Steers and the Lady Blues.

The Blues came in second at the District 5-3A meet in Burkburnett on April 9, only 15 points behind the first place Hirschi Lady Huskies. But it was the Steers who won first place in the district tournament with a total of 192 points, which ended up totaling 34 more than second place finisher Vernon.

Some of the highlights for the men's team include Ben Davis' first place bid in the 110 meter hurdles and Mike Freeze winning the discus competition outright.

Davis was quoted in Wednesday's Times Record News, saying that it felt like a great way for he and his team to round out the season.

“I'm not going to have the chance to compete in high school sports again, so I might as well enjoy it while I have the chance,” Davis said in Burkburnett. “Win a district track meet as a team - that's what it's all about.”

It was a storied year for Davis, who also led the Graham Steers to the semi-finals of the state tournament in 2013 as Graham's starting quarterback.
