A couple of watchful officers and suspects acting suspicious resulted in two recent drug busts.
Sgt. Chris Denney was patrolling Fourth Street at about 8:30 a.m. April 11 when he recognized a subject driving a white pickup headed east. The driver, David Mullinax, 39, of Graham was wanted on two municipal traffic warrants.
Denney stopped the truck in the 1400 block of Fourth. During the stop, Denney saw Mullinax reach into his pocket and pull out a small plastic bag and attempt to conceal it.
He placed Mullinax in handcuffs and found, in his pocket, the bag containing a white substance which field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
Mullinax was arrested for the two warrants and the additional charges of possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, less than one gram, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
