SAN ANTONIO (AP) Counseling will be offered in a South Texas sheriff's department where violence has included a jailer losing part of his ear in a fight with another officer.

Bexar (bayr) County Sheriff Susan Pamerleau says a peer support group and a volunteer chaplain program could also help stem the problems.

Pamerleau on Monday responded to recent incidents that included a fight between two on-duty jailers in which one allegedly bit the other's ear. One of the men required medical attention after Sunday's incident.

Both jailers are now on administrative leave.

San Antonio police earlier Sunday responded to a domestic dispute after a deputy allegedly assaulted his wife.
