Those who have visited the Graham Convenience Station have probably noticed quite a change in the facility recently.
A freshly leveled and primed parking lot will now greet customers at the station, and so will station manager Joel Williams, who was hired four weeks ago. He has made many improvements to the station, including the parking lot, which leads to the containment wall. It's been sealed to keep concrete dust from blowing onto customers, and he's also put up trash barrier fences to catch trash that blows out the roll off containers.
“I'm trying to get this place changed up a bit,” Williams said. He estimates that he spends 80 percent of his day outside making improvements to the station.
Williams has worked for the City of Graham Streets Department off and on for about 15 years. When the Convenience Station manager position opened up, he went for it.
