The design for the new park is in, and the city of Graham anticipates construction will begin this winter.
Public Works Director David Casteel said the park is on schedule for its completion sometime next summer.
The You Lead class of 2012-2013 was charged with selecting an architectural firm to design the park. You Lead is a Young County leadership program facilitated by the Graham Chamber of Commerce and Young County AgriLife Extension Office.
The architects selected were SRA Designs out of Arlington, a firm that has designed several parks and public spaces in the DFW area.
The class created a park committee consisting of some members of You Lead, as well as other interested community members.
Alex Heartfield, chairman of the committee, said all but six properties in the Salt Creek Floodplain Buyout have been acquired, and there are only three structures still awaiting demolition.
