Local law enforcement agencies have been notified of a possible wrongful death law suit in the death of Diana Simpson of Brownwood.
Simpson was arrested by Graham Police on the evening of May 19. She had been reported as missing by her husband, La Roy Simpson. After she was evaluated by EMS staff but not transported to the hospital, Diana Simpson was taken to the Young County Jail.
Several hours later at around 3 a.m. she was discovered dead.
Burt Burnett, an Abilene attorney, is representing Simpson’s husband and two of her three adult children.
Burnett said there are more agencies involved, in addition to those in Graham.
“He (Simpson’s husband) contacted several, including those in his home county and the Brownwood Police Department trying to get help so this very thing didn’t happen,” Burnett said. “They put the bulletin out that she had threatened suicide. Ultimately, she is picked up and put in jail in Graham the evening before her death.”
Simpson’s husband called the Young County Jail the evening she was detained.
