Students seeking a college education will take a new placement test when applying for college in Texas.
In an effort to consolidate college placement testing, the state of Texas has created the Texas Success Initiative Assessment, which replaced Compass and THEA testing for college level readiness.
“The placement test was created specifically for Texas by faculty across the state and the college board, and it replaces THEA, Compass, Accuplacer and all other previous placement tests,” said Magen Bunyard, North Central Texas College Graham counselor. “All those were valid, but now we will just have one standard for the entire state. It's an effort to simplify and standardize college level testing across the state.”
