City facilities in Graham may get a little brighter for a lot less money in the coming months.
Lighting and fixtures in facilities such as the Young County Arena and City Hall have outdated lighting techniques and fixtures, with the last update made 10 years ago.
The city is looking into working with affiliate Philips Lighting Capital through BASIC IDIQ, who is currently repairing the roof on the Young County Arena. Philips must first present a proposed letter of intent containing lighting provisions and a contract of what they are guaranteeing, which is new lighting that will provide a complete return on the investment over a four-to-five year time span.
The city seeks to receive either LED or T5 fluorescent lighting, an improvement from the current T8 fluorescent lighting installed 10 years ago.
