Graham Area United Way celebrated a successful year at its annual board meeting March 18.

Although the organization didn’t meet its $118,000 goal for the 2013-14 year, they did raise $116,826, 99 percent of the overall goal.

The financial report showed that of the $121,946 budget, $78,187 will go to 18 local agencies, and the remainder includes administrative costs and $7,009 in contingency funds.

Chris Stroud, incoming president for 2014, announced that Joe Schweighofer will serve as vice president of the executive committee of the Graham Area United Way. The campaign chairperson will be Peggy Sonnenberg, and the executive director and secretary of the 2014-15 year will be Susie Cerecedez.

Board members of the 2014-15 GAUW campaign year are Alex Heartfield, Eddy Neal, Vickie Newell, Ryan Conway, Robb Krecklow, Schweighofer, Gary Elrod, Stacy Rile and Sonnenberg. Serving on the allocation committee will be Newell, Riley, Schweighofer, Stroud, Heartfield, Neal, Debra Stamper, Sonnenberg, Ashley Stewart and Elrod.

Past president Lynn Day commended Schweighofer for his work as last year’s campaign chairman.

“He did very, very well,” he said.

The board agreed to pay dues to use the United Way logo and run another campaign for the 2014-15 year. To do this, the organization must pay $1,208 to United Way, Inc.
