Young County Sheriff’s Office and Olney Police Department joined forces late Saturday, July 26, for a pair of arrests at a building on the southernmost part of Olney. During the incident, police were able to recover a handgun that was stolen locally.
Chief Barry Roberts said YCSO received report of shots fired at the American Legion on Hwy. 251 at approximately 11:50 p.m. Saturday. Since YCSO was in the area, deputies responded to the scene before calling OPD for back-up.
“There was an altercation between two Hispanic males,” Roberts said, adding that one of the subjects, identified at 22-year-old Johnathan Torresillas of Wichita Falls, was observed firing a pistol in the air and pointing it at people.
Upon arrival at the scene, Roberts said officers and deputies were unable to find the firearm. Upon a search of Torresillas’ vehicle, however, they did recover a gun bag containing two Glock 10 mm magazines. The gun, itself, was found in the tall grass near the building.
