First Baptist Church of Graham will present their 36th annual "Living Christmas Tree" production this weekend, providing Christian holiday entertainment to residents of the Lake Country. There will be no charge to attend the production, set for Dec. 9-11 at the First Baptist Church auditorium, 620 4th St. in Graham. The production, which is open to the public, begins at 7 p.m. and doors open at 6 p.m. each night. Child care will be available during the program and Santa will also be there greeting children in the foyer before the production begins. Parents and guardians may bring cameras or cellphones to snap pictures of their children sitting and chatting with Santa in his sleigh. Jerry Blake, the church's minister of music and media since 1993, writes the scripts for the production every year and this year's production, "When Love Reached Down,” is named after a sermon given by the church's senior pastor, Mark Bumpus. "Our pastor was preaching a sermon on the love of God and that incubated throughout the year and I got to realizing that is not something that we as humans can even wrap our minds around," Blake said. "So that is the direction I took on it, to help the people understand the unfailing and unconditional love of God." For the rest of this story, subscribe to our print or online edition.
