Rev. John Everett Perryman, Jr., 85, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, after a short illness. A celebration of John's life will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, at First Methodist Church of Graham, with interment to follow at Pioneer Cemetery in Graham.


John was born Aug. 16, 1928, in Fort Smith, Ark. He was a preacher's son and grew up in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas, graduating from high school in Coleman. He attended college at Bethany Peniel College in Bethany, Okla., where he met love of his life, Mildred Alice Krigbaum. Following their marriage, he attended seminary at Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Mo. 


There he received the bachelor and master degrees of divinity and was ordained as a minister in the Church of the Nazarene. He pastured Nazarene churches in Rotan, Beaumont, Clovis, N.M. and Bismarck, N.D. He later worked for the State of Texas Social Services in welfare management for children and the elderly. After retirement, he served as interim minister for several Nazarene churches, including extended interims at Blossom and Cisco. 

He never missed an opportunity to spread the Lord's word. He remained an ordained minister of the Nazarene Church until his passing.


John was preceded in death by his parents John Perryman, Sr. and Neta Perryman. 

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mildred Alice Krigbaum Perryman of Graham; his sister, Nita Rae Perryman Bohanan of Bethany, Okla.; son, Gary Paul Perryman of Arlington; daughter, Gayle Ann Perryman Mikel and husband Mike of Fort Worth; and grandchildren, Nyssa Marie Perryman of Reno, Nev., and John Andrew Mikel and wife Mallorie of Haslet.
