Danny William Simpson, age 71, passed away Jan. 16, 2014, at his home in Shannon. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at McMillan Satterwhite Funeral home in Graham.
Danny was born to Bill and Daisy Simpson on Feb. 7, 1942, in Graham. He married Nettie Simpson on March 25, 1961, and they had three children, Richard, Randy and Samantha.
Danny worked in the oil field his entire life. He began his oil field career as a roughneck and ended his 50-plus-year career as a well-respected consulting engineer. He has worked and traveled all over the world. Danny was a member of the Bluegrove Masonic Lodge, having served as Worshipful Master. Danny was a friend to everyone and a stranger to none. He was the backbone of the family and took care of his immediate and extended family. He opened his heart and home to whoever needed it. He was loved and respected by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters; and one brother.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nettie Simpson of Shannon; two sons; Richard and wife Susan of Harwood; Randy and wife Angela of Archer City; daughter, Samantha Shawn Taggart and her husband Paul of Archer City; six grandchildren, Shay Simpson, William Simpson, Jake Simpson, Olivia Taggart, Candace Taggart and Rebecca Taggart; a sister, Tommie Helen Shifflett of Graham; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and a world of friends.
