Harold J. Meyer passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014, in Denton. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 25, at Faith Lutheran Church in Graham. Interment will follow in the Murray Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McMillan-Satterwhite Funeral Home in Graham.
Mr. Meyer was born Sept. 2, 1923, in Ganado and moved to Graham in 2003 from Pecos. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and was awarded a Purple Heart in Europe. He owned and operated Meyer’s Electric and Cabinet Co. in Pecos for many years. He was also active in helping with the Habitat Humanity houses in Graham and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Graham.
Mr. Meyer was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Meyer; a brother, Lonnie Meyer; and by a sister, Norma Cummings.
Survivors include his daughter, Beverly Stewart and husband Steve of Graham; son, Royce Meyer and wife Kayla of Lewisville; two granddaughters, Rebecca Hughes of New York and Karissa Meyer of Lewisville; three great-grandchildren, Shannon Dockstader, Austin Hughes and Trenton Hughes; great-great-grandson, Aiden Hughes; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by brother-in-law, Franklin Effenberger, and sister-in-law Shirlene Steen, who were very special to him.
