George Kenneth Lane, 85, of Angleton, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2014, in Houston in the Michael DeBakey VA Hospital. Funeral services were July 24 in Palms Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation was at Palms Funeral Home. Burial was at Angleton Cemetery.
Mr. Lane was born Oct. 10, 1928, in Elbert to H.D. and Beulah (Bruton) Lane.
He was preceded in death by H.D. and Beulah Lane, Phyllis Jo Lane and Loreda Cutshall.
Mr. Lane was a member of the VFW and the American Legion, Charles Dixon Post No. 241. He ran Lane’s Lures for many years. He was very crafty, enjoyed gunsmithing, rod and reel repair and making spinning lures.
There was nothing he couldn’t do when it came to making things with his hands. He was a tool pusher and an oil field welder by trade. He was an avid outdoorsman and after retirement, fishing became his life’s calling.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Joyce Lane of Angleton; sons, Kenneth Dale Lane and wife Carol, Stephen Charles Lane and wife Shanna, David Allen Cook and wife Mona; daughters, Jan Noska and husband Dan, Paula Roberts and husband Dale and Dona Heidman and husband Steve; grandchildren; Lisa Schaefer and husband Terrence, Jeremy Gregg and wife Angelica, Rachel Gregg, George Lane and wife Lisa, Stephanie Lassiter and husband Ken, Melody Noska and husband Gary, Steven Noska and wife Lisa, Kaylan Noska and husband Jay, J.P. Falcon, Cassandra Howard, Sophia, Nicholas, Karl, Josef and Maria Louise Cook and Harrison and William Heidman; great-grandchildren, Brianna and Reed Schaefer, Natalia and Danny Cardona, Anthony Gregg, Logan and Cooper Lassiter, Jordan and Jackson Lane, Blaine, Brody, and soon-to-be baby Cole Noska and Payton and Tyler Howard.
