After losing 75-37 to the No. 21 ranked Hirschi Huskies on Friday and following that with a 58-51 loss to Sanger on Monday, it is clear that the desperate Steers can simply not find a way to win.
The Sanger game in particular was a great opportunity for Graham to end the losing streak and get back on the right track.
The Steers were up 13-9 after one quarter and looked to be forcing the opponent into a string of bad shots, but by the half the Steers were down 21-20.
There was plenty of time for Graham to make some defensive stops and get back in control, but Graham was outscored 19-15 in the third quarter with many of the Steers top scorers in foul trouble, and Landon Gonzales’ eight fourth-quarter points couldn’t get the Steers over the hump as they fell to the beatable Sanger team.
Having Bryce Reeves in foul trouble for most of the game hurt the Steers tremendously, but the fact remains that the Steers were close enough to pull out a “W” and just couldn’t find a way to do it.
Graham is 0-3 in district play with six straight losses, and now they face the always competitive Iowa Park Hawks in Iowa Park Friday.
