After an 11-run loss at the hands of Snyder last week, the Steers entered the weekend tournament in Snyder looking to recapture some of the Steer baseball greatness of old. Graham opened the tournament on Thursday with a 6-3 loss to Big Spring, but followed that up with a 7-6 win over Pecos on Friday in the early game.

The late game Friday was close, with the Steers losing 5-6, and the tournament ended for the Steers on Saturday with a sound 8-3 win over Perryton to put Graham at two wins and two losses overall. GHS baseball coach Allen McGee said after Saturday’s game that the boys battled this weekend and showed a ton of heart coming off last week’s game against Snyder. “After wining district the last 3 years and having their sights set on getting district play up and going against Iowa Park in a few weeks, coming out of a tournament, .500 is a good warm up to district play,” McGee said.

Coming away from this tournament, McGee feels his players benefitted from an important learning experience, and his roster now understands better that it takes every player doing the little things to make the team successful.
