PERRIN - A young Bryson Cowgirls squad learned a painful playoff lesson Monday night. The defending 1A state champion Lipan Lady Indians ran past Bryson 50-14 in a bi-district playoff from Perrin-Whitt High School. Lipan needed just 33 seconds to take a 2-0 lead, but it was the Lady Indians defense setting the tone. A constant man-to-man press combined with the play of senior post Maddie McGee helped the Lady Indians open the game on a 14-0 run. Bryson got its first two points of the game with 1:10 left in the first quarter. By then the score was 16-2 in favor of Lipan, where the score stayed going to the second. All four of the Cowgirls points in the second quarter came from the free throw line. Cold shooting in the lane prevented Bryson’s offense from getting off the ground. Meanwhile, the Lady Indians had no such troubles. Lipan led the Cowgirls 26-6 going into the halftime break. For the rest of this story, subscribe to our print or online edition.
