Graham 7on7 football qualifies for State Tournament

Graham’s 7on7 football team qualified for the Texas State 7on7 Tournament with wins in Commerce last Saturday. The team competed at the A&M Commerce state qualifying tournament and fared well.

Graham defeated Gainesville, Pilot Point, Harmony and Midlothian Heritage in the State Qualifying Tournament in Commerce. Graham and Kaufman were the teams that qualified for state out of the Commerce SQT.

The Steers will continue to prepare for the state tournament by competing in other events. Saturday, May 28, Graham will be competing in Wichita Falls at Midwestern State. Graham plays in Division II for 7on7 competition.  The tournament features pool play and Graham is in pool B. The other teams in Pool B include Abilene Wylie, Bowie and Gainesville. The winner from Pool B will play pool D in the semifinals, and then winners from the semis will play in the finals at Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls.

7on7 football is a shortened version of the game that plays on a 45-yard field. All offensive plays are passing. No running or kicking plays are allowed. 

The 2016 Texas 7on7 State Tournament will be held in College Station for Division II on Thursday July 7, and Friday July 8.
