With only a few days of practice as a full team under their belt, the Graham Lady Blues took to the floor Saturday afternoon in their season opener against the Jacksboro Tigerettes from the Graham High School gymnasium. Unfortunately, the Lady Blues showed they still need time to gel as a team, as Jacksboro was able to earn a comfortable 60-21 victory. Graham’s offense struggled to gain traction in the contest. The Lady Blues didn’t score their first basket until near the end of the first quarter when the Tigerettes held a 17-2 lead. The offensive problems continued in the second quarter. The Lady Blues could only manage 3 points, while Jacksboro had no problem scoring. The Tigerettes held a 36-5 advantage going into the halftime break. Following the interval, there wasn’t much change in the scoring. The Lady Blues were not only stopped by a smothering half court press, but went cold shooting from the field, giving Jacksboro a 52-9 lead going into the fourth quarter.
