The Graham Lady Blues faced Burkburnett Friday afternoon for the second time this season, resulting in an exciting five-set duel and a win against the Bulldogs. After initially losing the first two sets, 25-23, 25-18, the Blues found motivation to power through the final three sets by 25-17, 25-18, 15-13, for a victory. The Blues' triumph gave both teams a 5-1 district record, knocking Burkburnett out of first place in their own gym. "One of the things I was really impressed with was our mental toughness," Blues head coach Marci Faulk said. "To be down by two (sets) and not give up, that really impressed me." In addition to the Blues' determination, Faulk said the physical shape of the team played an important role in the victory. "I think we were better off than Burkburnett. As the game went on, you could tell they were physically wearing down and our girls didn't fade at all." Faulk said. Faulk remained relaxed even after Burkburnett slipped past the Blues in the first two sets and watched as the girls' confidence began growing after a win on the third set. "I took a different approach the other night. I just stayed calm," Faulk said. "We got on a run that built our confidence and as our confidence grew, we became more aggressive and the more aggressive we were, the harder it was for them to get anything going."
