A common saying in sports is “It’s not how you start, but how you finish.” Friday night this couldn’t have been more true for the Graham Lady Blues. Coming off one of their worst first-half performances of the season, the Lady Blues rebounded in the second half. The end result was a 56-49 victory over a physical Wichita Falls Hirschi team, moving the Lady Blues to 12-11 overall and 2-0 in district play. Graham was scheduled to continue district play Tuesday night against the Burkburnett Lady Bulldogs on the road. Friday night Jan. 20 the Lady Blues will be back at home against Iowa Park. The only great thing about the first quarter was a brief span in which the Lady Blues led over the Lady Huskies by as much as four points at the 3:46 mark. Aside from the momentary advantage, not much went right for Graham in the opening stanza. Hirschi eventually came back and gained the advantage at 12--11 with 2:32 left in the first. Graham went into the second quarter down 16-11 as the Lady Blues dealt with a physical defense and cold shooting. For the rest of this story, subscribe to our print or online edition.
