PERRIN - Anything that could go wrong, did go wrong for Newcastle Saturday night. A struggling offense resulted in a 58-16 loss to Slidell from Perrin-Whitt High School. The game was a warmup contest between the two teams. The Lady Cats (19-11) took a 2-0 lead at the 7:02 mark in the first quarter. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much else good that happened. Slidell went on a 13-0 run before Newcastle scored its next point on a free throw at the 2:49 mark in the first. The Lady Hounds led 16-3 at the end of the first quarter. While Slidell couldn’t miss, Newcastle hardly made any shots in the second. A barrage of three-pointers by the Lady Hounds made the deficit even bigger for the Lady Cats. Going into the halftime break it was all Slidell at 40-8. For the rest of this story, subscribe to our print or online edition.
