On Friday and Saturday, May 9 and 10, the top athletes from every UIL division arrived in Austin for the state track meet. The Steers were among those represented with three competitors, all of them throwers.

The three students from Graham who were able to qualify for state constituted two discus throwers, Mike Freeze and Conner Smith, and one shot putter, Chanse Moss, being able to make their way to Mike A. Myers stadium for the state track meet.

Moss, who automatically qualified for State due to his first place finish at the regional track meet, placed sixth with his throw of 49-feet-6-inches. Moss, who has been dominant all year, capped off his season as the only track athlete from Graham who placed at state.

Another automatic qualifier, Freeze, went into the discus throw with teammate Conner Smith, a wild card contender. Throwing 148 feet and 138 feet respectively, neither Freeze nor Smith were able to crack the top six.
