Jake Lanham loves to play basketball.
The fast pace, the movement and constant running draw him to the sport.
This past week Lanham, along with about 60 other boys from second to ninth grade, got the chance to play the fast-paced sport at the Graham Boys Basketball Skills Camp.
The camp focuses on teaching the fundamentals of basketball, including correct shooting form and ball handling, head coach Marcus Morris said. The camp is designed to help each player become better, but, Morris said, the coaching staff also wants the campers to enjoy the experience.
“We try to do a little bit of that each day, mix in shooting fundamentals with fun,” Morris said.
This included lay-up and shooting competitions and dribble tag, a game in which each player tries to knock the ball away from other players while dribbling a ball.
While the camp provides a fun way to learn the fundamentals, Laham's focus was on the upcoming basketball season.
