AUSTIN, Texas—Anna James and Jessica Parratto qualified first in preliminaries of women's 10-meter synchronized diving on Friday at the U.S. Diving Winter Nationals.

James of Midland, Texas, and Parratto of Dover, N.H., totaled 286.98 points at the University of Texas. Murphy Bromberg of Bexley, Ohio, and Cheyenne Cousineau of Temperance, Mich., were second at 270.75. The finals are Sunday.

In women's 3-meter synchro, Deidre Freeman of Grinnell, Iowa, and Maren Taylor of Arlington, Va., qualified first with 309.90 points. Casey Matthews of Getzville, N.Y., and Michelle Cabassol of Montgomery, Texas, were second at 289.62. The finals are Saturday.

In men's 3-meter synchro, David Boudia of Noblesville, Ind., and Sam Dorman of Tempe, Ariz., led the prelims with 413.97 points. Dwight Dumais of Ventura, Calif., and Aaron Fleshner of Spring, Texas, were second with 378.27. The finals are Saturday.

Steele Johnson of Carmel, Ind., and David Dinsmore of New Albany, Ohio, were first after the men's 10-meter synchro prelims with 400.02 points. Mark Anderson of Lake Forest, Calif., and Toby Stanley of Conway, Ark., were second at 342.96. The finals are Sunday, the last day of the meet.
