Prosecutors in Laredo say 42-year-old Arturo Gonzalez awaits sentencing after being convicted Thursday of three weapons counts. He faces up to 10 years in prison and a possible fine of up to $250,000 per count.
Authorities say all of the AK-47 assault rifle magazines in the undercover investigation were seized before reaching Mexico. The case goes back to 2012.
Investigators say Gonzalez, who remains free on bond, owns two J.C. Twiss "El Canonazo" sporting apparel and firearm accessories stores in Laredo.
