The La Villa (VEE'-yah) Independent School District board met Saturday evening to evaluate two options that La Villa city commissioners approved. The Monitor reports ( http://bit.ly/1kLw9IB) that instead of approving either offer, the board authorized its attorney and superintendent to counter.
Either offer was to include a compromise rate below the $14 per person surcharge that sparked a quarrel between the commission and school board in December 2012.
The city cut the district's water after students went on holiday vacation last month, saying it owes about $58,000 on its water bill. Water was restored Wednesday after a state agency declined to intervene, and classes resumed Thursday.
