FANNETT, Texas—Students and staff at a Southeast Texas elementary school have the rest of the week off as investigators try to determine what caused a fire that severely damaged the building.

Officials with the Hamshire-Fannett (fah-NET') Independent School District says all other students must report for classes as usual Wednesday.

KFDM-TV ( http://bit.ly/1gOEOlH) reports nobody was hurt in the fire early Tuesday that caused the roof of Hamshire-Fannett Elementary School to collapse.

Superintendent Pamela Morris later released a statement says district officials are evaluating the availability of facilities for the elementary students. She had no immediate damage estimate but says the school sustained significant fire damage.

The rural school district is about 70 miles east of Houston.
