The Young County Sheriff’s Department, Texas Highway Patrol and the Texas Game Wardens are shutting down FM 701 from State Highway 67 to Eliasville, according to Young County Sheriff Bryan Walls, who was on scene. Water was over FM 701 12-18 inches, according to Walls, and it’s still rising.

"We're just gonna let eveybody know that lives on this road (Hwy 701) that if they are there now they are not getting out unless they get out now," said Walls.

The departments are not doing a full evacuation of the community, at this time, but are warning residents who have medical problems and who live on FM 701 to get out now before it is too late. On the other end of FM 3109 and Hot Wells Road to FM 1974 the road will also be shut down, in to Eliasville and back up toward Murray Highway. The Sheriff’s Department is having residents take alternate routes of FM 209 and Ivan Road.

"We are just warning people right now if there is anybody in there with medical problems we need to probably get them out of there because none of the emergency vehicles will be able to come in there and get them," said Walls.
