The kids struggled with her name so she told them to call her “Miss Baby” and this is how she is now known to the community at the Library of Graham.

Miss Baby moved to Graham in 2019 and by 2022 quickly grew a name for herself in the children’s section of the library, bringing characters to life by dressing up and acting as though she was part of the story. She ties in crafts and activities of all kinds for each story and has even been known to call on her guitarist husband to come play and enforce the title of a book with music.

Tying in art, with music and stories she promotes eye and hand coordination in developing children. By utilizing Facebook, the local newspaper and the sheer hard work of “Miss Baby,” participation in the children’s program doubled in size the first year.

After receiving the Tuesday morning “story time” for the preschoolers, the program was expanded to daycares and churches.

The program is expanded with a “Summer Reading” group so the kids could continue their adventures in reading year around and in most recent years has had about 200 children at the event! With 150 paint buckets from ACE and Tractor Supply and help from Kandra of KP, the children learned all about procession and sound.

While it would be easy to believe that Miss Baby has always worked with children, there’s much more to her. In fact, she was once in the final training as a firefighter!

Unfortunately, or fortunately for some, she was unable to carry a 200-pound man down a flight of stairs so she was placed on an EMS group and did her rotations at Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth and then worked at the prison in Jacksboro before making her way to library.

So, if you see my wife, Brandi Duncan, aka Miss Baby, at the Library of Graham, perhaps surrounded by 30 or more children carrying green eggs and ham or self-made hedgehogs, give her a smile, she’ll gladly return it.
