The city of Graham confirmed Wednesday that a city employee tested positive for COVID-19, according to a release.

The city said that this employee does not work at City Hall and does not meet with the public.

“With that being said we are doing an internal contact tracing and quarantining employees who could have possibly been exposed using guidelines recommended by our Young County Health Official, Dr. Pat Martin,” City Manager Brandon Anderson wrote in a release. “This employee has also already been contacted by the state and is complying with state contact tracing guidelines. With an increase in testing as well as an increase in positive cases locally, I am sure we will all be (affected) in some form by a positive test in the near future, how we react and respond is essential. City of Graham employees will continue to social distance, wash hands and follow all recommended health hygiene protocols.”

The release states that the city will recommend employees wear masks or face covering when out in public settings and they will continue to have City Hall open to the public.
