PK Possum Walk scheduled for June 18
The 20th annual St. Peters by the Lake Episcopal Church Possum Walk will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 18, at the church, with registration starting at 7:30 a.m. The church is located at the intersection of Red Bird and Park Road 36 on Possum Kingdom Lake’s East Side.
This year, the route will be on the Brazos River Authority Trail to Johnson Peak, weather permitting. The route is moderately difficult with loose soil and rocks. The organizers recommend that participants consult a physician before undertaking the event, if not regularly participating in moderate exercise two to three times per week or if having had any surgical procedure six weeks prior to this event.
A finish line celebration will top off the day, with food and refreshments after the walk, along with a drawing for prizes donated by local merchants, including Brazos Native Nursery, Stitch Too Stitch, Hen House Quilts, Lush Resort, Mr. C’s Convenience Store, Naylor by the Water, Ranch Brand Jewelry & More, Sky Camp, Steak Shed and Whataburger.

The event raises funds for St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, which was built in 1907. The funds go toward maintaining this local historical landmark. The entry fee is $20 per person, and there will be no refunds. The event will be held rain or shine. A portion of the proceeds are also donated to a charitable cause.
