Tent revival draws a crowd, despite weather

Despite stormy weather, an average of more than 60 people attended the three-day tent revival at Possum Kingdom Lake last week, according to the Graford/Possum Kingdom Ministerial Alliance.

The Rev. Terry Reynolds of Community Church at PK presided over the Amazing Grace Tent Revival May 10-12, welcoming everyone to the tents set up behind the Possum Kingdom Chamber of Commerce.

Each night a different pastor gave the benediction. Tuesday evening ended with a brief Bible reading and a prayer led by the Rev. Shane Long of Abundant Life Church in Graford; Wednesday, Lonnie Dixon of The Way Church in Graford; and Thursday, Gary Tull of Country Road Fellowship of Graham. At the end of the first service, the Rev. Dennis Trammell of First Baptist Church, joined Long, Reynolds, the Rev. James Turner of and Tull for the benediction.

People of several denominations came out to hear the testimonies, including those given by Ardie Brock, Rebecca Lightner, Melissa Carter, Amanda Bevins, Christine Mayo, the Rev. Darlene Carnley and others.

Musical performances included Rebecca Lightner on Tuesday; Wednesday, Sherry Whitmire, who accompanied herself with guitar; and Thursday, Vickie Brown and Christie Bullock sang a duet.

“Over all, I think the revival went very well,” Reynolds said. “Especially with the weather; we even had pea-sized hail Wednesday night.”
