Fundraiser to benefit Graham schools

Fri, 04/07/2017 - 1:16 pm
The Graham Public Education Foundation (GPEF) is having their third bi-annual Pistols and Pearls fundraiser at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 29, in the Barclay room at the Young County Arena. Live music will be provided by The Wonders, and there will be a delicious meal of beef tenderloin and grilled lobster from Coleman County Catering. A raffle and live auction will be held, with the proceeds benefiting GPEF. Some of the auction items include a two-night trip to Rancho Loma, a Skin Essentials basket, a pool package from Texas Recreation, an Amazon echo basket from Beyond Faith Hospice, a premium parking space at Graham Steers football home games along with two platinum athletic passes donated by the Graham ISD, and many more. GPEF is a nonprofit corporation that supplies funds to the Graham ISD outside of the regular district budget through a grant application process. The board members of this organization are made up of local community members and have a vision of excellence for the school district. GPEF has provided more than $350,000 to the school system since 2011 with the help from donors and fundraisers such as the Kitchen Krawl and Pistols and Pearls. They seek donations in order to fund as many grant requests as possible that will benefit the children of GISD. This year, they have grant requests that total more $178,000, more than double the requests in any previous year. Tickets for Pistols and Pearls are $100 each, and the opportunity to be a sponsor is available as well. For more information, call the GISD administration office at 940-549-0595.
