Young County was well represented at the fourth 4-H Day at the Capitol, held Feb. 8. Five youth – Amanda Richards, Victoria Richards, Evan Stewart, Ethan Stewart and Tyler Martin – and four adults traveled to Austin on Tuesday to begin their trip. The purpose of 4-H Day at the Capitol is to interpret the youth educational program opportunities that 4-H provides. Youth also received recognition in the House of Representatives and the State Senate. They met with their local state representatives and senators to express their gratitude for supporting the 4-H program, and to ask questions to further understand the legislative process. Over 300 youth and adults participated in the state-wide event. Young County youth were warmly welcomed to the capitol by District 68 Rep. Drew Springer. They also spent a portion of the afternoon meeting with staff members from Sen. Estes’ office.
